Collage Crafting Day

Today we set out to make some nice collage work. Using a 6x6 size paper, you can also use card. To create our own background patterns we used foam stamps in the shape of the service users initial and stamped all over the paper in different directions and using different coloured stamping inks. In the picture here pink, silver and gold were used. We then added some cut out shapes and pictures from magazines for this design a flower was used and a face added to the flower, then using glitters and pearlised plastic beading. To finish the design we added feathers and sequin shape snowflakes and stars. A tag was added and then mounted onto gold glossy card with more decoration. This will eventually be given as a present at Christmas to service users family.

The next collage was done using the same method and paper size, this time using cut out shoe and perfume bottle, all to the service users

choice from a magazine. This time using lilac and a dark mauve ink colour with silver and gold flowers for the background. The shoe we decorated with stars and highlighted the shoe with glitter glues, the perfume bottle we added a wrap and decorated and completed with a feather. We attached a key with wool fibres.

Both collages are so pretty and sometimes the camera does them no justice. Eventually we hope to get all service users to have a try at making a collage so that each page can be made into a book.

This is a great way to help service users with movements in their hands and to express their own ideas and be creative. We hope other DC's enjoy trying collage work and we look forward to seeing some of their ideas on the blog.
