One of the DC assistants bought the idea of creating a mini garden. With the help of some service users and their ideas of how they would like the garden to look, this is how it developed. Using a large tray or you can use a cat litter tray, add some soil and turf. Leave a gap for adding a little pond. For the fences use lollie sticks and make into the shape of a fence. They added some foilage from the grounds of the DC and some silk daffodils. The stones around the pond and the path were from tiny tiles we found in our craft cupboard, and added a large shell to represent a seat. The service users enjoyed making this little garden and everyone took part by watching and giving ideas. A few days later we got another tray and created another garden.

This little garden we added some rocks to represent a rock garden area, we used lollie sticks for the decking and made a garden swing out of the sticks as well, then covered the top with fabric. To give a little back drop we used a nice sunflower picture and printed it out on photopaper then cut around. Both gardens are still going strong, if you water the grass it will keep and you may have to give it a trim now and again. You can click on the photographs to get a closer look.
